About the property...

This stunning, duplex apartment sleeps up to 10 guests, with four bedrooms and three shower rooms.

A lift will bring you up to the main floor, with the impressive living area taking up the whole width of the property. Sofas and chairs are arranged around the TV at one end, which is separated from the dining area by a suspended woodburner. The contemporary kitchen is fully-equipped, with everything you need to cook for your group, as well as a dishwasher for making light work of the clearing up.

This bright and airy space has two large sliding doors, which open onto a furnished terrace. Enjoy an apero or coffee on the vintage chairlift, get together for a meal or simply soak up the sun and the wonderful views.

There are three double bedrooms on this floor, including the master suite which has a television, a desk, a dressing room and an en-suite shower room. There are two more double rooms, one of which has an en-suite shower. There's also another shower room, a separate WC and a utility room with a washing machine and dryer.

The final bedroom is under the eaves – with four large single beds, it's a great room for children, although the beds (100cm wide) are big enough for adults too. Each one of the beds is built into an alcove with its own lighting, and there are blinds for the four roof windows, which flood the room with light.

You will find plenty of cupboards and storage for all of the bedrooms, which are tastefully decorated with quality linen and pictures of Alpine scenes.

There's a double garage with an electric charging point on the ground floor, as well as a ski room with a heated boot rack, where you can leave your outdoor clothes before heading up to the apartment.

About the area...

Châtel is one of the main resorts in the huge Portes du Soleil area, and offers great access to Avoriaz, Torgon and Morgins. Situated at the end of the beautiful Abondance Valley, its altitude and location between the Alps and Lake Geneva means it enjoys a great snow record. There's a snowpark, boardercross course and great terrain for beginners at Super-Châtel, but also plenty to test intermediates and experts in the Linga/Pré la Joux sector and further afield on the Swiss side of the border.

Cross-country skiers will find 49km of trails around Châtel.

In the summer, the resort attracts road cyclists drawn to the Tour de France routes. The Châtel bike park offers 20 downhill tracks, and there are plenty of bike shops and hire points in the village.

Walkers and trail runners can explore 48 circuits and 400km of paths. Families looking for child-friendly walks will appreciate the footpath around the lake, and the link to the lake at Morgins, on the Swiss side of the border. There is plenty going on at Lac de Vonnes, with fishing, paddle boarding, discovery trails and a great playground.

Châtel has been awarded the "Famille Plus" label, so you can be sure that children will always be well-catered for, with a full programme of activities in summer and winter.

Older children will love the Fantasticable – an adrenalin-filled flight on two zip wires, which will see you flying over the hamlet of Plagne-Dranse at almost 100km/h! Other adventurous options include paragliding, rock-climbing, via ferrata, whitewater rafting and kayaking. There's no time to be bored!
